Under The Rock

On a Tuesday evening, somebody few would recognize wanders into the bar. She looks underage, petite and maybe in her late teens, though that doesn't stop the bouncers from letting her in. At first glance she looks like a bum or street kid, with faded and torn jeans and a frayed black hoodie with the hood up. Dirty and tangled hair protrudes from beneath the hood, and her feet are bare, even inside in this weather. A bright green scarf hangs from one belt loop, along with a short wooden talisman with carvings in it that look like hatch-marks. A thin chain of bells hangs from around her neck, and her arms are decorated almost to the elbow with bells, beads, bangels and rubber wrist-bands. Her eyes seem glazed over and distant; she scans the bar as she walks through it, making her way to the patio out back that overlooks the river. Perching on the railing, she stares off into space.

::Having felt no love from those within the Bar, the slightly off keister, individual, wearing the same old denim suspenders, a white tee shirt, and a new pair of sunglasses (still on upside down) makes his way out to the patio to approach the newcomer.::

::He sits near, but still just beyond an arm's reach. Lights a cigarette with a very bright neon pink zippo::

"Hey! My Name's Ashes. Have we met?"

She tilts her head curiously at the newcomer, then smiles in faint recognition. "Not in these incarnations, no...I'm Piscin. Nice to meet ya, Ashes."

"What brings a young gal like you into these parts? You setting up shop or something?"

::he offers a cigarette::

She accepts the cigarrette, moving slowly so as not to startle him. Her perch on the railing becomes more of a crouch as she sniffs it and starts digging through her shoulder bag for a lighter.

"Just passing through. Been meaning to visit up here for a while now, since the Custodians and some of the Knights have done me more than few good turns in Bloomsburg. What about you?"

"Here ya go.... Wait a minute, Smoking is bad, and you're too young."

::he retracts the lighter for a moment, as if to jest, then hands it over::

"Ahh come to think of it, ain't gonna do ya no Harm now."

She chuckles a little before accepting the lighter and lighting the cigarette in one fluid, practiced motion.

"Believe me, I've smoked stronger. Ever tried khalif? I've laid off the stuff, but I can hook you up next time I get a stash if you want."

She passes the lighter back to him. "Thanks."

She nods. "Used to chain smoke the shit, before I chilled out on my own. Helps with the nerves and all."

"Drugs are really bad. My sire had a gang once. They were called the Hillbillies. Then when my sire disappeared, some time had passed and an old member named himself the New Leader. He was a Drug Addict. Really bad. He went by Sniffles. He put himself into Drug induced torpor many times and the gang suffered greatly."

She stares out at the water for a minute, taking that in. "Experiences are usually too complicated to be just good or bad. I guess one way to measure would be the consequences. Sorry to hear about your sire. You part of the Hillbillies gang too?"

"No, I was never an official Hillbilly, I had 2 brother in their though. Sniffles lack of control and poor leadership led them down a path no one should have taken. They've all been destroyed for their infernal practices, and when the county found Sniffles not guilty and not infernal i was very sad. He should have been there to help his gang, but he was off doing drugs."

His mention of the infernal brings her gaze back from the water and onto him. "That is some fucked up shit," she says bluntly. "When did all of this go down? Before the chanting started, or since?"

She nods, understanding him perfectly and looking a little more haggard as she takes a long drag from the cigarrette. She glances at it for a second, probably wishing it was khalif after all.

"The flames wreath most of our dreams anymore," she says quietly. "There are few places left untouched. Sounds like you all did what you had to do in cleansing that gang, but I sure am sorry it went down like that. Did they go neo-Carth, right down into the Well, or what? You all need any help with loose ends?"
