Nicolai approaches the non-descript back door of The Red Feather. Pulling the door open, he descends the stone staircase and passess through the archway leading into the sub-bar. On the wall behind the counter, the enormous television blares ESPN in anticipation of the Superbowl.

Nicolai takes a seat at the bar and with a nod to the bartender,
"Water, please."

:Eric walks into the establishment, unaware of what type of festivities would take place in an 'Inn.' He sees the glamor of the place and decides to stay a while. The large TV catches his eye as well as some of the interesting handiwork in the obviously luxurious abode. He approaches the counter while a hand come up with an outstretched finger.:

"Barkeep, a drink of your finest scotch Johnnie Walker Blue Label. And leave the bottle."

:He looks at the counter before him as his gaze turns towards the big screen:

Nicolai turns his attention from the big screen to the new arrival.

"Hello Eric. Haven't seen you in here before. Then again, I haven't seen hardly anyone in here before. I was starting to think I was the only one who knew about this neat little place. Guess the secret's out now though."

:Eric turns to the individual sitting at the bar and smiles:

"In Rockland, there are no secrets. Not from me. I know this place like the back of my hand. If y'all keep secrets amongst yourselves, well...that's another story."

:He looks at the Bardonia with modest eyes that trace from him all the way across the counter:

"Tell me, Nicolai. Does this 'neat little place' happen to come out of the Bardonia funds or your very own? I'm curious to understand how the revenue of one's financing amount to this interesting place and it's title."

:He removes his shades and puts them on the counter:

"Then perhaps you are unaware of the fact that maybe they could have placed their interests in this establishment? After all the place does seem rather...what's the word I would use?"

:He rolls up his left sleeve revealing a Rolex:

Anything's possible, though if my family did have anything to do with this establishment, I doubt I'd be paying for my drinks.

:Eric reaches into his pocket as if shuffling around for something. A discouraged look on his face while looking down as he can't find what he appears to be searching for:

"Yea that sounds about right. I don't have to drop much at the Honies, even when I decide one bottle ain't gonna cut it for the evening. But this place's got class."

:He eyes wander to the general areas that seem to reflect a certain glamor to them and emanate beauty, while he pops a cigar and continues to ruffle around in other pockets and grumbles to himself:

"Fuck...always..never....around...You got a light by any chance?"

From within his pocket, Nicolai produces a silver lighter engraved with a crown, lights it, and holds it out for Eric to make use of.

:Eric, cigar in mouth, goes over to where the lit, silver object is being presented before him, leans over and with a few inhalations from the small burning flame lights his cigar; the smoke caressing his face as he ejects backward and takes a deep drag. He can feel as the cigar coats his tongue and slightly singes his throat; the feeling intoxicating him:

"That's why you're a Bardonia. Cause your at the top of your class, on your A-game. You look young and probably feel much younger than I am, are well dressed, composed and sharp. Hell, you could probably run this whole city the same way your sire did."

:He lowers his voice: "And maybe even better."

:Resuming normal tone: "As for me, I'm a wreck. I'm an old, old guy who's barley got it together, responsible for conditions to great for me to even bear."

:He takes another big swig, which is followed by a thick exhale of smoke:

"Oh, and thanks for the light."

"I don't know about all that, and I certainly wouldn't want the responsibility of running an entire county. The things Francois has done I thought were impossible, but he just does them as if they are nothing."

Nicolai returns the lighter to his jacket pocket.

"And as for you, I don't think your nearly as out of gas as you think. Seems to me you've got quite a few more centuries left in you yet."

He smirked, relishing in the irony that Kindred were immortal.

:Eric grins, and shrugs his shoulders:

"You never know...I could wind up dead somewhere, staked through the heart and left out to be ashed in the field of the open sun. Or in the belly of the beast that made my power his or her own. Rick-rolled by infernals or man, er vamp-hunted by some mortal hunters that won't stop until they have my head on a pike. It's a dark, dark world out there; makes me wonder how the mortals even survive. Sure I might have an aeon if I'm to avoid all this conflict and just live out my days surviving in darkness."

:His expression changes as he takes another drink:

"But you know, I believe you grant Francois too much credit. Even though he is your elder, his age has definitely caught up with him. I could see it in his eyes. You're the new, if not newer, generation of your kind. After all, he could die sometime in the near future and that would be...well that would suck now wouldn't it?"

:He is oddly calm in his statement:

"You're right. I'm going to try and be a bit more optimistic for the sake of good company. Even though, I'm not that big into football, but I'm sure the commercials will be somewhat amusing."

"I've played a bit of football in my day...err...the official kind that is, so I feel somewhat of an attachment to the game, even though I've rather lost my interest in it. It almost feels like an obligation at this point, but once I get into it, I'm reminded of what it was like. It's nostalgic."
